After nearly two weeks of preparation, David Moyes is now closing in on his first game since being appointed as West Ham manager against Watford on Sunday.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss was brought in after the sacking of Slaven Bilic, who was dismissed in the aftermath of the Hammers’ last Premier League game - a 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool.

The Scotsman’s most pressing tasks in the short time he has had to work at the Rush Green training ground will have been getting his players fit and organised after a shambolic start to the season under his predecessor.

Furthermore, Moyes also faces a battle to get the fans onside after a notable backlash to his appointment.

Another issue for the ex-Sunderland boss is that of recruitment. Though the club landed four key targets in the summer, owners David Gold and David Sullivan will give him backing in the January window.
