West Ham vs Norwich - LIVE!

West Ham United reclaimed their place in the Premier League’s top four as they beat bottom club Norwich City 2-0 with in-form Jarrod Bowen scoring both goals.

Bowen, touted for an England call-up by West Ham manager David Moyes, had one effort ruled out in the first half but was not to be denied as he headed home in the 42nd minute.

It was a familiar story for Norwich who played some attractive football in parts, and threatened an equaliser in the second half with Adam Idah denied by a great save from Lukasz Fabianski.

But Bowen, who also hit the woodwork twice, wrapped up a third successive league victory for West Ham in the 83rd minute, converting past Tim Krul from a superb delivery by substitute Arthur Masuaku after the goal originally being ruled offside but allowed after a VAR check.

West Ham moved above Arsenal into the Champions League spots, but the Hammers have played more games than the Gunners in fifth and Tottenham in sixth.

West Ham ratings vs Norwich: Bowen dazzles as Cresswell returns

FULL-TIME

21:36 , Matt Verri

West Ham 2-0 Norwich

David Moyes’ side are back in the top four!

Jarrod Bowen at the double, as he produced a sensational performance to lead the Hammers to the win.

It was slightly nervy until that second goal, but it’s a job well done for West Ham.

21:34 , Matt Verri

90 mins: Yarmolenko, on for Antonio, has a shot beaten away by Krul. He’s desperate to get on the scoresheet here.

Three minutes to be added on, and West Ham can enjoy them.

21:30 , Matt Verri

86 mins: How is it not three?!

Incredible. Cresswell pulls a shot and it falls to Antonio completely free a few yards out.

He takes an age to eventually shoot, and Krul gets across to save. The offside flag then eventually goes up.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

21:29 , Matt Verri

Bowen is more than deserving of that second goal. He’s been a menace all night and has done his work defensively too. The winger just keeps getting better at the moment.

GOAL! West Ham 2-0 Norwich | Jarrod Bowen 83'

21:28 , Matt Verri

Or is he? VAR checking... this is really tight. Aarons tracked back and his foot may well be playing Bowen onside. HE IS!

Jarrod Bowen has his second of the night. West Ham surely have the three points secured.

21:27 , Matt Verri

82 mins: West Ham happy to keep possession, not too much pace to their play at the moment.

Play it back to the centre-backs, and all the way to Fabianski. Long ball drops to Lanzini and West Ham are back on the counter.

Wide to Masuaku, into the box... BOWEN TAPS IN!

But he’s offside again! He’s going to have another one ruled out.

21:24 , Matt Verri

80 mins: Good from Coufal to step out of defence and stop a Norwich attack, but West Ham give it straight back.

Tense atmosphere at London Stadium. Fans know this one is still in the balance.

Fornals does brilliantly to play Masuaku in on the overlap... makes a complete mess of it and blasts it out of play.

21:22 , Matt Verri

78 mins: Here comes a change for the Hammers.

Vlasic off, Masuaku on. Moyes looking to see this one out without late drama.

21:21 , Matt Verri

77 mins: Aarons breaks infield and pokes a ball forward for Pukki.

Unfortunately for him and Norwich, the striker has slipped and is lying on the floor as he watches the pass roll away.

21:19 , Matt Verri

75 mins: 15 minutes to go and while West Ham have created plenty tonight, the lead is still only one goal.

Moyes will know his side are still vulnerable to a late sucker-punch. Idah brought off by Dean Smith... travelling fans aren’t happy about that.

21:16 , Matt Verri

73 mins: Great pass by Bowen through to Coufal, who makes a good run on the overlap.

Can’t find a West Ham shirt though, and Norwich can break. Dawson with a well-timed challenge to halt Pukki’s progress.

21:14 , Matt Verri

70 mins: Cresswell with another great cross into the box. Bowen a few inches away from getting onto it at the back post.

Coufal puts it back in, but not much quality on that and behind for a goal-kick.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

21:12 , Matt Verri

Fabianski has had so little to do until that moment and produces a superb stop to tip Idah’s effort onto the post. The former Arsenal man is having arguably his best season for the Hammers and has gone to another level since Areola arrived.

21:11 , Matt Verri

67 mins: Dowell on for Norwich, to replace Placheta. No sign of any changes from David Moyes yet.

Lanzini gets back well for the Hammers to head away a ball into the box. Idah lets fly from range... HITS THE POST!

Norwich very, very nearly level things up.

21:08 , Matt Verri

64 mins: It’s all West Ham, but they can’t find the second goal to kill this match,

Fornals, to Rice, to Lanzini... none of them can get a shot away on the edge of the box and Norwich get enough bodies back.

21:05 , Matt Verri

61 mins: Antonio and Hanley come together, not for the first time tonight, as Cresswell whips a ball down the line.

They both want a free-kick... neither get it, the referee waves play on.

Bowen gets round the outside of Williams and into the box, deflected and off the outside of the post! Another corner.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

21:03 , Matt Verri

This is Jarrod Bowen’s best form in a West Ham shirt and he’s playing with so much confidence.

Rather unlucky with that clipped effort onto the bar - it’s not something he probably would have tried a month or so ago.

21:01 , Matt Verri

58 mins: BOWEN HITS THE BAR!

He’s been absolutely brilliant tonight. Fornals slides a great pass into Bowen’s path, he’s into the box and dinks a lovely chip over Krul... bounces off the bar.

So unlucky.

21:00 , Matt Verri

57 mins: Placheta turns Rice and gets past Cresswell to put a good low cross in, and Diop turns it behind at the near post for a corner.

That’s cleared and West Ham come flying forward on the break. Fornals flicks it on to Bowen and he’s through... forced wide though, and the chance goes.

20:58 , Matt Verri

55 mins: Pukki very nearly plays a perfect cross into the box, but it just evades the Norwich shirts bursting forward.

Bowen gets to the byline and cuts the ball back, Norwich hack it away.

20:57 , Matt Verri

53 mins: NEARLY TWO!

Wonderful from Antonio. Fornals drills it into the striker and he shows great strength to roll Hanley. About ten yards out, on the stretch with his left foot... over the bar.

Big chance to double West Ham’s lead.

20:54 , Matt Verri

51 mins: Vlasic and Aarons battle for a loose ball, and the Hammers man stumbles into the box and goes over. He thinks he’s been fouled.

Aarons was pulling the shorts of Vlasic, but he stopped before they got into the box. VAR has a quick look, no penalty.

20:52 , Matt Verri

49 mins: This one is taken short and Norwich can clear.

The visitors try and break, but the referee blows for a foul as West Ham give away a good foul from their perspective.

20:51 , Matt Verri

47 mins: Great start to the half from the home team.

Fornals plays it into Antonio and he holds it up well before laying it off to Coufal. His cross is a bit heavy and doesn’t find a Hammers player, but it’s a promising couple of minutes after the break.

Vlasic then lets fly from just outside the box... blocked behind for another corner.

Back underway!

20:49 , Matt Verri

The Hammers get us underway after the break.

20:45 , Matt Verri

If it finishes like this, West Ham will move up into fourth in the table.

They’ll be two points ahead of Arsenal in fifth and four points ahead of Spurs in sixth. But the Gunners have a game in hand, while Antonio Conte’s side have three games in hand over the Hammers.

20:40 , Matt Verri

62% of possession, seven shots, six corners... the stats paint a promising picture for the Hammers. They’ve definitely been the better team.

Norwich have had a couple of shots on target and worked decent positions, particularly early on in the match, but they do look to be badly missing that killer instinct in the final third.

HALF-TIME

20:34 , Matt Verri

West Ham 1-0 Norwich

The Hammers have the leading going into the break, and it’s very much deserved.

Bowen had an early shot saved before having a goal disallowed, but he eventually got on the scoresheet with a header late in the half.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

20:33 , Matt Verri

Moyes will be glad West Ham managed to get their noses in front after a controlling first half. Given Norwich have scored just eight goals all season this should be a procession from here but West Ham will want to go into the top four in some style.

20:31 , Matt Verri

45 mins: Norwich try and respond straight away.

Free-kick into the box, Hanley wins the header at the back post but can’t get enough on it and he glances it wide. Three minutes to be added on.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

20:29 , Matt Verri

Bowen adds another string to his bow then. One of the shortest men on the pitch and he’s able to sneak in front of his man and head home from close range. West Ham have been in complete control this half and are well worth their lead.

GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Norwich | Jarrod Bowen 42'

20:28 , Matt Verri

THIS ONE COUNTS!

Bowen gets his goal! Cresswell gets forward on the left, and his cross is too deep and runs through to Coufal on the other wing.

It’s a great ball back into the box, and Bowen gets in between the defenders six yards out to head past Krul. Great finish from him, and yet another goal for the winger.

20:26 , Matt Verri

40 mins: That seems to have woken Norwich up to.

First attack in a long time, and the shot comes in from range. Comfortable save, but at least some signs of promise.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

20:23 , Matt Verri

That feels like the correct decision to me. Diop and Vlasic both went for Bowen’s cross and whether Diop was off or not both of them certainly had an influence on Krul. It’s livened the home fans up at least.

GOOO... NO!

20:22 , Matt Verri

West Ham take the lead!

Or do they?! Short corner, and Bowen has the angle to whip a brilliant ball into the box.

Beats everyone and it’s into the far corner. VAR checking it though.

And it’s ruled out! Vlasic deemed to have been interfering from an offisde position.

20:20 , Matt Verri

35 mins: Rice bursts forward on the left and he wins West Ham their fifth corner of the match.

Cresswell swings it in, McLean heads it away. Norwich holding firm from set-pieces.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

20:19 , Matt Verri

Manuel Lanzini has been in superb form of late but twice now should have done better with two chances from the edge of the box which have ended up in the stands (quite a feat here).

He’s done well in a deeper role alongside Rice, just needs to make Krul work if he is presented with another chance like that.

20:19 , Matt Verri

33 mins: Well-worked from the Hammers, but Lanzini can’t make the most of it.

Cresswell rolls the free-kick to Fornals on the edge of the box, he dummies it and blocks the covering defender which leaves it to fall to Lanzini. Once again though, he fires over the bar.

20:17 , Matt Verri

31 mins: Lanzini wide to Coufal who again has a lot of space.

Cuts back onto his left foot, which Rashica wasn’t expected. Brings down the West Ham defender, and it’s a free-kick in a really dangerous position.

20:14 , Matt Verri

28 mins: Game has gone a bit quiet at the moment. Rice tries to change that as he goes crunching into a challenge in midfield.

Norwich try and play it forward to Pukki, but it rolls through to Fabianski.

20:12 , Matt Verri

26 mins: Vlasic getting treatment, after he was dragged to the ground by Krul. Norwich goalkeeper wasn’t happy with being crowded at that corner... needs to be careful with that amount of contact though.

Lanzini with a strike from more than 25 yards out, and it’s easily saved.

20:10 , Matt Verri

25 mins: Fornals plays it wide to Coufal and he can fire a first-time ball across the face of goal. Can’t pick out a West Ham shirt, but it’s a corner.

Good ball from Bowen, Dawson with the shot at goal... blocked behind for another corner.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

20:09 , Matt Verri

After the early promise West Ham have gone a little flat here. They’re seeing plenty of the ball but not quote moving it fast enough. Norwich are hardly sitting deep to frustrate them so chances will come.

20:08 , Matt Verri

22 mins: Fornals tries to find Bowen in the box, but too much on it and Krul gathers easily.

Idah beats Diop on the outside and clips a ball into the box... no Norwich players has come to support him.

20:05 , Matt Verri

20 mins: Very nearly for the Hammers.

It’s Diop this time who sprays a ball over the top and Antonio is onto it. He brings it down and has the beating of the Norwich defence, but the touch gets away from him and Krul can rush out to claim.

A better touch and Antonio was clean through on goal.

20:03 , Matt Verri

18 mins: Antonio runs onto a long ball on the left, but the offside flag goes up.

Came from a nice ball from Cresswell, he makes such a difference for the Hammers when he’s back in the side.

20:01 , Matt Verri

16 mins: Lanzini is going to be ok to continue, much to the relief of David Moyes.

The Hammers do look quite vulnerable at the back, Norwich have been a better final ball away from causing real problems.

19:59 , Matt Verri

13 mins: Rashica again has space on the edge of the box, but it’s a tame effort and Fabianski easily saves.

Lanzini down, and he’ll need some treatment. Got absolutely clattered by Coufal, as the right-back came out to challenge Williams. Caught Lanzini in the head with his knee, heavy contact.

19:57 , Matt Verri

11 mins: What a brilliant cross from Cresswell. He’s picking up from where he left off.

Into such a dangerous position, Bowen almost gets on the end of it in the six-yard box, but Norwich just about scramble it behind.

Dawson goes down in the box... free-kick given the other way.

19:56 , Matt Verri

10 mins: Visitors are growing into this. Rashica whips an effort at goal from outside the box, over the bar.

Carrying a threat when they go forward, but West Ham have had joy whenever they’ve got on the attack.

19:54 , Matt Verri

8 mins: Better from Norwich as Pukki breaks away. Dangerous attack, but Rice gets over brilliantly to put it behind for a corner.

Good ball, headed out. Rashica puts it back in... straight out for a goal-kick.

19:52 , Matt Verri

6 mins: Lanzini plays it out wide to Coufal, who sends a deep cross into the box. Too much on it for Antonio.

Norwich try and break, but Rice is quickly across and West Ham are straight back on the attack. Bright start.

Vlasic skins his man and breaks into the box. Lays it off to the edge of the box where Lanzini has space, but he slices it well over the bar.

19:50 , Matt Verri

4 mins: Antonio shows great strength, too much for Gibson who brings him down. West Ham striker making it clear from the off to the Norwich defence they’re in for a tough night.

Clipped to the back post where Diop is free, but he heads it straight at Krul.

Jack Rosser at the London Stadium

19:48 , Matt Verri

That was nearly the perfect start for West Ham, a superb passing moving ending in Bowen’s shot. He’s been in great form but really should have done better there and offered more of a test for Krul in the Norwich goal.

19:47 , Matt Verri

2 mins: Bowen has space on the right wing, and he sends a nice switch of play out to Vlasic.

Lanzini dropping deeper in midfield, playing alongside Rice in the absence of Soucek.

KICK-OFF!

19:46 , Matt Verri

We are underway at the London Stadium!

Nearly time...

19:43 , Matt Verri

Just a few minutes to go until kick-off.

West Ham will be looking to make it four wins in a row, and if they do that they’ll be moving into the top four tonight.

They face a Norwich team that are bottom of the Premier League, and on course for yet another relegation.

Players coming out onto the pitch now.

Moyes: Rice improving as a leader

19:25 , Matt Verri

David Moyes wants Declan Rice to become West Ham’s own fearless leader in the mould of Roy Keane and Tony Adams.

Rice made his 50th appearance as West Ham captain in Sunday’s FA Cup win over Leeds and will lead out the Hammers against Norwich on Wednesday as they seek a win that would take them back into the top four.

The midfielder has become a leader for club and country at the age of just 22 and been the driving force behind West Ham’s push for Champions League qualification this season.

The left-back injured himself colliding into a post against Man City at the end of November, and has been out of action since.

He starts tonight though, a big boost for the Hammers.

“We know our points tally is nowhere near where it needs to be. Hopefully we can press the reset button.”
