David Moyes has gone to a back-five in West Ham’s bid to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The Hammers travel to Tottenham tonight for a quarter-final tie having not played for a week after their Premier League fixture against Norwich was called off due to a Covid outbreak and injuries in the Canaries camp.

While the team is dealing with a number of injuries in defence, Moyes has nonetheless matched Spurs’ 5-2-3 formation with a similar setup of his own.

Czech full-back Vladimir Coufal is suspended after his sending off against Arsenal and the postponement of Saturday's game against Norwich City, although it has since been admitted that the decision to give him his marching orders was incorrect.

Asked whether Covid has impacted his team, David Moyes said on Tuesday: “We’re very good. The training ground has been very good and most are okay. We have got one or two with the virus, but most are very good and long may that continue.”

There is still no space for Aaron Cresswell, but Ryan Fredericks is fit for the bench. Michail Antonio does not feature in the squad.

West Ham XI: Areola; Johnson, Ashby, Dawson, Diop, Masuaku; Rice, Soucek; Vlasic, Lanzini; Bowen.

Subs: Randolph, Baptiste, Alese, Fredericks, Kral, Noble, Fornals, Benrahma, Yarmolenko.
