West Indies’ tour of England could become a reality in the next day or two, with talks between the Government and the ECB ongoing on Monday.

There were reports at the weekend that the tour was hanging in the balance, but the ECB have been given written assurances from Oliver Dowden, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, about the three-Test series.

There were concerns the impending 14-day travel quarantine measures could cause too much of a logistical nightmare, despite Cricket West Indies having approved the tour after lengthy talks.

The touring party is due to arrive on a chartered flight in a week’s time, but there are still stumbling blocks to overcome with the exact ramifications of how the quarantine will apply.

The Government still need to officially sign off the series, which is scheduled to start on July 8.
