West Lothian sparky fears for 'livelihood' after ending holiday with gutting discovery

A young electrician has been left gutted after his vital work tools were allegedly swiped from his van.

Scott Innes, from Armadale, is a trainee sparky and relies on his tools for his work. He was enjoying some well earned annual leave when he discovered his tools were missing from his van on Sunday, October 27.

The 23-year-old believes the alleged theft took place between the Friday and Saturday night on Brown Street, West Lothian. Officers have launched an investigation but have said their enquiries are at an early stage.

A Milwaukee impact gun, Milwaukee combi drill, Milwaukee SDS drill, Milwaukee multitool, Milwaukee batteries, Milwaukee battery charger and Velocity tool bag with electrical hand tools in side were taken from the vehicle.

Scott has asked for anyone with any information relating to his tools or who is approached to buy tools to come forward to police.

"This has impacted me as I'm unable to work without my tools," Scott said. "I am an electric apprentice and this is my livelihood.

"It happened sometime between Friday October 25 and Saturday October 26, but I didn't notice until the following Sunday as I wasn't working due to being on annual leave.

"I didn't check my van as there was no need with me being off. Police are calling me Wednesday night to interview me."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.15pm on Sunday, 27 October 2024, a report was made that a tools had been stolen from a van parked on Brown Street, Armadale.

"Enquiries are at an early stage.”
