West Midlands drivers issued key warning as major motorway used by 75,000 closing this weekend
A major motorway used by 75,000 motorists a day will close this weekend in both directions. Roadworks can be an annoyance for drivers using the UK's motorway network but are vital to keep them running effectively.
The closure will take place on the M5 which links the West Midlands with Devon in the southwest of England. The closure will take place around Junction 27 for the Barnstaple area of Devon.
Although the junction is far from the West Midlands, it could prove disruption for West Midlanders planning a weekend getaway to the southwest. As reported by The Sun, the work forms part of essential repairs to the motorway which is nearing 50-years-old.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "We understand that road closures are frustrating, but by closing the road and installing a contraflow, we can get this essential repair work done safely and quickly, causing less disruption overall.
"Work will be starting near the central reservation, before moving across the carriageway."
