West Midlands train services cancelled after station floods
Train passengers in the West Midlands face hours of cancellations after a train station became flooded by water. The tracks at Wellington train station in Telford, Shropshire, were seen submerged by water earlier today (September 30).
The station is located along the line between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury, with multiple services along that route cancelled today. A photograph published on X (formerly Twitter) showed the tracks between both platforms covered in water this morning.
Later photographs showed the water had receded. However all but one service right up until midnight between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury have been cancelled, according to the Trainline app.

The ticket booking app said services had been cancelled "due to heavy rain flooding the railway". It comes as heavy rain continues to be forecasted as the UK embraces autumn.
Earlier this month, heavy rain and thunderstorms struck the region as multiple yellow weather alerts were in place. The Met Office has issued two further yellow weather alerts for rain today and tomorrow (September 30 and October 1), although these are over the East Midlands and into the north east of England.
