Two people were injured after a man "fell from a height" at a shopping centre in east London.

Emergency services scrambled to Westfield in Stratford after reports a man had fallen and a woman was injured, Scotland Yard said.

Police said the injuries suffered by both did not appear to be life-threatening.

Footage shared online showed a man on the floor with crowds watching on, as witnesses reported that he fell from the second or third floor.

One witness tweeted that the centre was “partially closed due to a customer falling from an upper floor landing on a fellow shopper”.

Another wrote: "A guy fell off the third floor of Westfield to the lower floor in front of my eyes."

Another witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Standard they were on an escalator when they "heard gasps" before looking up and seeing a man "mid air".

They said: "I saw him fall onto someone."

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 4pm, Wednesday, October 17, to reports of a man falling from height and a woman injured at the Westfield Shopping Centre, Stratford."

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene.

They did not clarify how the woman became injured.

A spokesperson for Westfield said: "The safety and security of our customers is our highest priority and our security team were immediately at the scene to help. We are working with the emergency services as they investigate the incident."
