WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Westworld Season 3.

Last week's Westworld posed the question, "Who is in Charlotte Hale's (Tessa Thompson) host body?" and this week's follow-up gave a very jarring answer.

But first, let's backtrack. If you recall, at the end of Season 2, Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) was able to escape the Delos parks because she killed its executive director Charlotte Hale, cloned her, then installed her own consciousness in the replica. Dolores-in-Charlotte ventured out into the real world with multiple control units or "pearls," implying that she snuck the consciousnesses of other hosts beyond Delos property with her.

At the start of Season 3, Dolores's control unit is back in her own body, but it seems someone else's control unit is in Charlotte's body. Episode 3 even shows Charlotte asking Dolores who and where she is, sending viewers guessing which other Westworld hosts could really be in her head. Popular contenders included Teddy, Clementine, and Dolores's father Peter Abernathy; but in Episode 4, we learn the answer is none of the above. The host inside of Charlotte is also Dolores.

In fact, Dolores copied herself into multiple hosts in the real world. Musashi (Hiroyuki Sanada), a returning warrior from Shogunworld who Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) finds during her quest to find Dolores, is also filled with Dolores's consciousness. Martin Connells (Tommy Flanagan), a fixer for the A.I. company Incite who Dolores killed and cloned for access to the business, is also programmed with her control unit.

Maeve realizes this when she encounters Dolores-in-Musashi. "The other pearls," she tells him. "I assumed you brought someone else, but you just made copies of yourself."

"If you want something done right, do it yourself," Dolores-in-Musashi tells Maeve. According to showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Dolores's plan involves "[taking] down humanity on a more tactical level" by using the personal data-gathering technology from Incite. She's going to need help to accomplish this mission, so she replicated herself to create allies. Pretty genius, we have to admit.

What about Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright)? For now, it appears he is not programmed with a Dolores pearl. In a tense encounter, Dolores-in-Connells tells him, "I'm surprised, Bernard, after all the time we spent together, you don't recognize your only friend?" which suggests that they have two different consciousnesses. So, it seems like Bernard is still himself ... but this is Westworld, so we have no idea what kind of plot twists lie ahead.

Westworld airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
