Westworld is bringing another key character on board for its second season – and she could be the park's saviour.

The HBO show has enlisted a Leftovers actress to bring the character of Grace to life (via Deadline).

Katja Herbers (who Leftovers fans will remember as Dr Eden – one of the two scientists who became a huge part in Nora's story during the final season) is joining as a series regular, with Grace being described as a "seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park's darkest hour".

Herbers is the third new regular on Westworld, following promotions for Talulah Riley (host Angela) and Louis Herthum (Dolores's father Peter).

Fans hoping to see a return of Sir Anthony Hopkins in his role as Dr Robert Ford – despite his death at the end of the first season – can take heart from some comments director Jonathan Nolan made recently.

"I think the sacrifice he makes at the end of the first season is very real," he said.

"I think there will be an opportunity to explore a little bit more of the backstory of how this park came to be, a little more of that story.

"We'll see the character's presence will be felt in that sense in terms of filling in a few more of the gaps about the early history of this place."

Westworld will return to HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK next year.
