Westworld and Shemar Moore's S.W.A.T. are both facing production delays because of the outbreak of wildfires in Southern California.

The HBO fantasy drama was supposed to filming its upcoming second season in the area on Tuesday (December 5), but ultimately shut down production to avoid any danger to cast and crew.

A spokesperson for HBO said on Tuesday: "Due to nearby wildfires, Westworld stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it's safe to do so."

This is the second recent delay in filming Westworld's second season. HBO also stopped work on the series back in November when a member of the supporting cast had "a medical emergency".

HBO later clarified that the injured cast member was Fargo and Longmire veteran Zahn McClarnon, who'd recently signed for an undisclosed role in the second season.

"Actor Zahn McClarnon was hospitalized Wednesday night after sustaining an injury at home," a network representative said at the time. "He is on the mend and looking forward to getting back to work."

Also on Tuesday, the Twitter account for police procedural S.W.A.T.'s writing room confirmed that the show would delaying any filming for the time being.

That tweet read: "Production of @swatcbs has been suspended for the day due to wildfires and unsafe air near our stages. Safety of cast and crew come first. Prayers to all affected by these fires."

More than 45,000 acres had burned by midday local time on Friday, forcing freeway closures just as thousands were forced to evacuate their homes.
