Wet Kangaroo Charges at Curious Man Amid Brisbane Flash Flooding

A wet kangaroo sodden by the remnants of former Cyclone Debbie charged at a man filming it at a Rothwell park on Wednesday, March 30.

As Brisbane residents were urged to take care and schools were closed as flash flooding and severe winds struck southeast Queensland, Ashley Jack saw the kangaroo bounding through the deluge.

He began filming it and a few seconds later the beast spontaneously changed track and charged toward him, footage shows.

Jack said in a subsequent post he “did not have to fight” the ’roo. “It stopped coming at me when I ran away.”

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said creek flooding was the major concern, the Brisbane Times reported.

Queensland deputy Premier Jackie Trad told reporters they did not “want parents or children to be on the road in this sort of weather.”

Queensland Police warned against allowing children to play in flooded drains and creeks, after reports some were not keeping clear of waterways. Credit: Facebook/Ashley Jack via Storyful
