Wetherspoon to serve 99p pints in 11 North East pubs on another day of discounts

Wetherspoon fans in the North East can cash in on another day of September discounts when drink and food prices at 11 local pubs will be slashed, with pints of beer costing from just 99p.

The pub chain, which on Thursday took 7.5% off its prices in a bid to raise VAT awareness, is now following up with another special day of deals next week. On Wednesday, September 18, it will be selling pints of beer for as little as 99p for a Worthington’s Creamflow ale and £1.29 for Ruddles Best.

Other discounts will include spirits for £1.25 and meals for £2.99 - and pub goers in Newcastle, across Tyneside and up to Northumberland are set to benefit. In all, it says 11 North East Wetherspoon pubs will be offering the special deals which will include a price range of £1.29 to £1.79 for a pint of Ruddles Best and £1.25-£1.79 for a single Bell’s whisky including mixer.

Prices can differ among branches so customers may want to shop around. The company adds that five other discounts on drink will be available and these include the pint of Worthington’s Creamflow ale costing from 99p.

The other options - for £1.99 each - will be pints of Bud Light lager and Stowford Press apple cider plus single measures of Au Vodka and XIX Vodka with mixers. There also will be two special meal deals of 'mix-and-match' wings, bites and strips.

Customers can pick spicy chicken wings; battered chicken bites; Southern-fried chicken strips or Quorn nuggets costing £2.99 each; two for £5.49 or three for £7.49. Also on the menu throughout autumn is a Sticky Korean fried chicken bowl, with chips or rice, and a Quorn version of this dish.

The local pubs participating in Wednesday's offer include six in and around Newcastle: The Quayside; The Five Swans in St Mary’s Place; The Keel Row in Newgate Street and The Mile Castle in Westgate Road plus The High Main in Shields Road, Byker, and The Job Bulman in St Nicholas Avenue, Gosforth. Others are - in Gateshead - The Tilley Stone in Jackson Street and Wetherspoon at the Metrocentre, as well as The Ritz in High Street West, Wallsend; The Fire Station in York Road, Whitley Bay, and The Red Lion in Front West Street, Bedlington.

Tyler Hudson, pub manager of The Quayside, said: “Our pubs are known for offering excellent food and drink at great value-for-money prices. We believe a pint of Ruddles Best, as well as the other drink and food offer, represents fantastic value.”
