An ex-Wetherspoons employee has revealed a hidden gem not many people know about on the menu - a £6 meal that she says rivals Wagamama.

Macey Newberry took to TikTok to reveal her top pick from the menu. She shared a video showing her tucking into a sumptuous bowl of chicken ramen, explaining: "This was my go-to."

The delectable dish of chicken and veg swimming in noodle-filled broth comes in at a mere £6 - a stark contrast to the double digits you'd find yourself paying for similar fare at other restaurants.

Macey waxed lyrical about the dish's value for money, declaring: "If you were to get a ramen anywhere else in England, like a Wagamama, you'd be paying at least £11 or £12.", reports the Express.

In her view, when it comes to taste comparisons with the famous restaurant chain, there's no contest: "So, for six quid I can hand on heart say this is better than a Wagamama." She didn't pull any punches while highlighting the superior taste of Wetherspoons' version, even going as far as to liken Wagamama's equivalent to "dishwater".

The TikTok video has since become something of a sensation, snagging over 160,000 views and amassing in excess of 7,000 likes. The comment section on Newberry's post lit up with mixed reactions from the public.

One viewer commented: "The noodles are way too soggy I found." Another weighed in with a contrasting opinion: "It has no flavour! I work in Spoons so maybe it's just our pub."

Meanwhile, a third chimed in: "I work at Wetherspoons but the food gets boring after a bit." One apprehensive foodie shared their concerns, saying: "Always wanted to try it but so scared it will taste bad, like curry/chicken potnoodles/super noodles ect. please confirm it doesn't taste like that."

Conversely, there was a chorus of approval from others who are fans of the Wetherspoons dish. One individual didn't hold back their admiration, stating: "I love it! Way better than the Wagas chicken ramen. The Spicey one slaps though." Another chimed in, adding: "It looks like it has a lot more flavour than wagas ones."

While a third confessed: "I've been wanted to try it for ages, you've twisted my arm I'm defo gonna have to try it now." And yet another satisfied diner offered their endorsement: "Had this couple weeks ago and it slapped not gonna lie."

For those looking for an extra kick in their meal, Newberry suggests adding garlic chilli sauce to spice up the Wetherspoons ramen.
