'We've settled into a routine': Emily Andre on taking Peter's kids in during Katie Price's drug battle

Emily Andre, 29, doctor and wife of Peter Andre, 45, has spoken about her relationship with Peter’s two children, Princess and Junior, from his first marriage to Katie Price.

Following 40-year-old Price’s turbulent year of substance abuse and rehab, Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, were living full-time with Peter and Emily.

Emily, who has two children of her own with Peter, Amelia, 5, and Theodore, 2, told Lorraine Kelly that she plays more of a ‘big sister’ than maternal role to Pete’s eldest kids.

“Do you see yourself as more of a step-mum or their friend? Or their big sister? It’s about getting that relationship right isn’t it?” Kelly asked.

“It’s a difficult one I’d say it’s more like a big sister role I would say. Obviously as well it’s about trying to keep things fair between the younger two as well but it works well doesn’t it?” Emily replied.

She added that the blended family had a routine now: “And it’s been a long time now really. We’ve settled into a routine.”

“It’s great and the kids – all of them – are just fantastic,” agreed Peter.

Emily also risked the wrath of Price this week when she referred to her children and Pete’s eldest two as her ‘four kids’ in her column for OK! Magazine.

Dishing her opinion after Russell Brand admitted in a recent interview that he was ‘no good at nappies’, she wrote: “Some people have criticised him for leaving his wife to do everything, but I actually think it’s good that he’s come out and admitted his weaknesses.

“I think he just needs to bite the bullet and get on with it because it’s not that hard! I was very lucky that Pete was so hands-on and he was very good with nappies.

“Having said that, I didn’t leave him with all four for probably about six months, but I think that was more just because as a mum you’re always around.”

Emily married Peter in 2015 after three years of dating.
