Whales Spotted Breaching Off Casuarina Beach on the New South Wales North Coast

A Kingscliff resident was lucky to witness whales breaching offshore at Casuarina Beach on the New South Wales North Coast on August 2.

Leasa Brown described the sighting as “my absolute moment of awe for today” in a post to Facebook, featuring a video showing the whales jumping high out of the water.

Whales are often sighted migrating up the Australian east coast between April and November after spending summer feeding on krill in Antarctic waters, according to an Australian government website. Credit: Leasa Brown via Storyful
