Well who knew that Steve McDonald was actually the father of Leanne Battersby's baby, eh?
Oh wait, everyone who watches Coronation Street.
The characters finally caught up with the audience after last night's episodes saw Steve reveal the truth in front of everyone, including his wife Michelle and Leanne's boyfriend Nick, who knew he wasn't baby Oliver's father but was pretending he was to the rest of Weatherfield anyway.
In an interview uploaded to the soap's social media pages, actress Jane Danson opened up about the revelation finally coming out, what the future holds for the characters and how she relates to Leanne.
"It's not just how Michelle and Steve deal with the news in their relationship, it's Leanne and Steve, and Nick and Leanne, and Michelle and Nick, and all these different people," she said.
"Between Leanne and Nick it opens up this question of 'who is 'The Dad'?' and who is going to play 'The Dad' role in this boy's life and can you both be 'The Dad'? It's certainly going to cause a few broken hearts along the way.
"The only person who's got what they wanted is Leanne with the baby but I wouldn't say she's happily ever after."
Jane also opened up about where her loyalties lie in the storyline, admitting that she does feel sorry for Kym Marsh's character Michelle as well as her own.
"Even though I play Leanne, I wanna shake her sometimes but I have to retain a level of feeling sorry for her and I have to look after her because otherwise I wouldn't be able to play her," she said.
"And I do feel sorry for her, but equally as a viewer I feel sorry for Michelle."
