Irish television presenter Angela Scanlon is set to appear on BBC One gameshow The Wheel this Saturday alongside comedian David Walliams and presenter Dermot O’Leary.

The game show sees contestants answering questions in the hopes of winning a cash prize, guided by celebrity experts. Hosted by Michael McIntyre, the show has had appearances from celebrities such as Jonathon Ross, Kathryn Ryan and Chris McCausland.

The 40-year-old, who is set to appear on the show on Saturday night, lives in North London, with her husband Roy Horgan and their two daughters. The couple has been married since 2014, with Horgan being CEO of SES-imagotag plc for the UK and Ireland. For their 10 year wedding anniversary, Angela posted: "The kindest, smartest, most stubborn man I know. The yin to my yang. The steak to my tofu (or something)... My world."

Family home in North London

The couple have two children, Ruby Ellen and Marnie Fae. Ruby Ellen was born February 25 2018 whilst Marnie Fae was born February 11 2022.

Angela Scanlon has said she is "pinching herself" after buying a family home in London after ten years of renting.

The family-of-four upped sticks for their new property in August of this year, and Angela still can't believe they have a place to call their own.

Sharing an update at the time, Angela posted on Instagram: "This is me at 5.15 this morning leaving our house!!! Our house. Have rented for 10 years since we got to London so to leave my own home and close my door is actually so wildly big and significant and kind of emotional. Still waking up and pinching myself even though we don't have a shower or a couch."

Living with anorexia

Viewers have praised Angela Scanlon after she opened up on the Late Late Show to share her experience of suffering from anorexia. She made a documentary called "Anorexia: my Family and Me" which will air on Irish TV channel RTE.

"I struggled with anorexia and bulimia for 15 years," she told Late Late Show presenter Patrick Kielty. "For me, it felt like a really important thing to do because I think it hasn't been spoken about very openly in very many forms."

"Certainly, when I was in the thick of it, I don't remember switching on the telly and ever feeling like there was a story that I could relate to or an experience depicted that was similar to what I was going through.".

"But I got over it, and there is so much hope. When I was in the middle of it, people said oh, you just have to deal with it, it's something you'll live with forever."

"I found that so infuriating at the time and it kind of became a turning point for me. I guess I would love for anyone sitting at home in the depths of it, in a lonely horrible place, to know that it's messy and it's complicated and it takes a long time, but that actually you can come out the other end."

'I love being terrified at work'

Known for her bubbly personality, Angela has said that the key to her endless energy is a good night's sleep. On her Instagram she said: “I would say I’m borderline manic. I try to go to bed early, I try to eat relatively healthy and allow myself to crash when I want.”

After studying business studies at University, Angela decided to venture into the world of fashion by importing handbags from independent designers. She then went onto work as a stylist.

Angela’s professional career in the media has been highly successful, working for radio and television in Ireland, and the BBC. As a journalist she has also worked for the likes of Tatler, Grazia and the Sunday Times Style Magazine. In 2012 The Irish Times listed Angela as one of ‘10 Instagrammers you need to follow’. Vogue also named her as ‘one to watch’ in 2013.

On her Instagram when asked if she prefers TV or radio she said: “I’m greedy so I like both, and TV, also I love live - there’s nowhere to hide so it feels exposing and terrifying and exactly what I like out of my work.”

Success on Strictly Come Dancing

Angela also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023 with professional dance partner Carlos Gu. The pair were the ninth to be eliminated from the contest, with their final dance being a cha-cha-cha to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.

As for the future, Scanlon has just re-launched her YouTube channel after an eight year hiatus. Her latest video, titled ‘Agony Angela’ sees her answering questions from the public.

She also hinted on her Instagram of a possible late night talk show. She said: “I would absolutely love to do a late-night talk show. It hasn’t been done by a woman in ages, if ever.”
