The Great British Bake Off is set to return for its 15th series on Channel 4 next Tuesday (September 24), with a fresh batch of contestants vying for the title. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, along with hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, will be back to oversee the competition, which this year includes an Essex car mechanic and a Wiltshire farmer among the hopefuls.

Past winners and participants have often found great success after their stints on the show. A recent study by Bonusetu.com analysed the Instagram earnings of previous winners based on their follower count and engagement rates.

Topping the list is Nancy Birtwhistle, the winner of season five, who reportedly earns around £2,052 per Instagram post thanks to her 828,000 followers and a strong engagement rate of 1.55%.

Hot on her heels is the latest champion, Matty Edgell, who has managed to amass 455,000 followers in just the past year. He's estimated to earn about £1,748 per post.

Nadiya Hussain from season six comes in third place. Despite having the highest follower count at 890,000, her earnings per post are approximately £1,596 due to a lower engagement rate of 0.35%, reports the Mirror.

Since his victory on the show last year, Matty has recently chosen to leave his PE and Science teaching role to pursue a full-time career in baking.

He's since collaborated with major baking brands such as Carnation and Nestle on social media campaigns.

The current champion also has ambitions to explore more TV opportunities, pen a book, and establish his own cake business.

On the other hand, Syabira Yusoff from series 13 is maintaining her passion for baking online while educating her followers about Malaysian cuisine.

In addition to baking, Syabira is keen to return to her scientist role to research heart conditions and other diseases.

Nadiya, who won the sixth series, is arguably one of the most successful contestants in the show's history.

She's starred in 14 of her own cooking shows, authored 17 books that include cookery books, fiction, and children's books, and launched her own homeware collection and spice brand.

Her latest book, Nadiya's Cook Once Eat Twice, was released this week, along with her accompanying television show on BBC Two, bearing the same title.
