A Florida man who was born white but claims to identify as Filipino has sparked outrage on social media.

Ja Du, who was born Adam, says he is living as a Filipino man and considers himself to be "trans racial".

The term, originally used to refer to someone of one race adopting a child of another, is now becoming associated with individuals who say they identify with a race they were not born into.

Ja Du, who says he grew up enjoying Filipino food and culture, drew criticism on social media after he was interviewed by US Today. His decision to live as Filipino was met with both outrage and ridicule.
