A white van was left floating in an estuary after the owner apparently “forgot" about it while having a pint at a pub.

A passer-by spotted the vehicle at 10am on Sunday off Exmouth, in Devon.

The owner was said to have parked on a tidal slipway at Imperial Recreation Ground on Saturday night before "grabbing a pint".

The unnamed driver is then said to have travelled back home after forgetting his van.

He was spotted returning to the estuary on Sunday morning to find the van dragged in by the tide.

Asia Litten, 32, shared the images of the floating white van on Facebook in an attempt to alert the driver.

She said: "My mum overheard the driver saying he had parked it there yesterday.

"The windows were down so I don’t think he intended to leave it for any length of time.

"He said he went to the pub and forgot about it.

"He must have remembered this morning only for the tide to have come in and carried it away. There was a 4x4 helping drag it out of the water.

"They all seemed in good spirits about it luckily."
