Why birdwatcher is against prosecuting woman
Story and video from Inside Edition
There is a new development in the case of Amy Cooper, the white woman charged last week for allegedly filing a false police report claiming she was being threatened in Central Park by a Black man (bird watcher Christian Cooper).
The case against the woman, who says she is not guilty, may now be in jeopardy after the birdwatcher announced he would not testify.
In a statement, Christian Cooper declares Amy Cooper has suffered enough.
He said, "Bringing her more misery just seems like piling on.
"If the district attorney feels the need to pursue charges, he should pursue charges. But he can do that without me."
Lawyer Stacy Snyder says the birdwatcher's refusal to testify could doom the case.
