Why 'EastEnders' isn't on TV tonight - and when you can catch up with the soap

If you were looking forward to catching up with the residents of Albert Square tonight, you might be disappointed to find that EastEnders is missing from Monday's TV listings.

The long-running soap has been bumped from BBC One in favour of sports coverage - but don't worry, it's just for this Monday and there'll be a chance to see the episode later in the week.

So Danny Dyer fans will still have plenty of opportunities to catch up with his latest dramas as Mick Carter as he prepares to leave the show this year.

If you're wondering why EastEnders is not listed in Monday night's BBC One schedule, the football is to blame.

The broadcaster has the rights to air Manchester United v Aston Villa's third-round FA Cup match, making way for it by postponing regular shows airing in the time slots between 7.30pm and 10pm.

When can I see the missing episode?

Luckily for soap fans, you'll still get your four episodes of EastEnders this week.

BBC One will air a double bill from Walford tomorrow (Tuesday) with episodes showing back to back at 7.30pm and 8pm.

Viewers will see Aaron head back to work, leaving Harvey in a panic, while Whitney tells Chelsea she must keep up appearances at home for their plan to work.

When does EastEnders usually air?

The soap usually airs four times a week in half-hour episodes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The Thursday and Friday episodes will continue as usual this week and next week Monday's episode will air at its usual time of 8pm.
