Lucozade lovers of this world: there's a reason why your favourite drink has tasted different recently, and it's all down to the manufacturer dropping the sugar content.

If you're a dedicated drinker or were wondering why people on Twitter were slamming the brand for its new "weird" taste, it's because Lucozade products containing 50% less sugar than before have just rolled out nationwide.

And, er, Lucozade Ribena Suntory – the company behind the drink – has received so many complaints about the new taste, it was forced to respond online. It tweeted:

"We're sorry to hear you don't like the taste of our new recipe. We have worked hard to ensure our products have the same great taste with 50% less sugar. Thank you for your feedback and we will be sure to pass in on to our development team.

The Independent says the manufacturer announced in November 2016 that it would be stripping half of the sugar from drinks, after campaigners pressured the soft drinks industry to make drinks healthier in order to tackle obesity.

But let's just say the response hasn't been great online.

Oh dear.
