Gary Neville says he would be as 'annoyed' as Kyle Walker after referee Michael Oliver called him out of position, which opened the space for Arsenal to equalise against Manchester City.

Erling Haaland had put City ahead in the ninth minute, however Riccardo Calafiori had cancelled out the Norwegian's strike by the 22nd minute. But the goal was not without controversy.

Jurrien Timber had been hurt following a challenge in the visitors' half, with Oliver calling over captains Thomas Partey and Walker for a discussion in the aftermath. With Walker making his way back into position following the talk's conclusion, a quick free-kick had been taken and a break was started down City's right flank.

It ultimately resulted in Calafiori firing the ball beyond Ederson from outside of the penalty area, leaving the home side outraged with Oliver allowing the restart with them at what they think was a disadvantage.

"He calls Kyle Walker over, Michael Oliver, and you see where he walks over toward him," Neville began to analyse when seeing the replay on commentary duty for Sky Sports.

"hen he sort of jogs back, turns his back. I think they are complaining that the free-kick has been taken before he can get back to his spot. They also think the free-kick was taken away form the position that it was awarded in as well.

"That's why City are annoyed. 'You've pulled me out of my position and you're not letting me get back'."

The former Manchester United full-back finally commented: "I would be annoyed."

Arsenal have since gone on to take the lead at the Etihad Stadium through Gabriel on the stroke of half-time. However, before the break was reached they were reduced to 10 men with Leandro Trossard shown a second yellow card for delaying the restart.
