Why Manuel Ugarte doesn't start for Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said he wants to keep a feeling of continuity in midfield amid his decision to name Manuel Ugarte on the bench for the clash with Crystal Palace.
Signed from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day last month, the Uruguay international made his first start for United in Tuesday night's 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, just three days after making his debut via the bench in the 3-0 win at Southampton.
Having made his first start against the League One side, it was anticipated he would make his first Premier League start this evening and join forces with Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in the engine room.

Instead, Ten Hag has handed another start to Christian Eriksen, who scored twice in the closing stages against Barnsley, meaning he will operate alongside Mainoo and Fernandes.
Asked if he wants to keep a feeling of continuity in midfield, Ten Hag told MUTV: "That is one of the reasons, yes. There is a connection.
"I didn't want to interrupt, but also Manuel needs some time to be integrated and to get used to English football. It will go quickly, but it is more to keep the connection in midfield as it is.
"Manuel will be great for us. We hope to integrate him slowly, but in a good way."
