For many, getting dolled up for the airport is part of the travel experience.

Donning a fresh outfit and spending a good chunk of time on make-up isn't unusual for holidaymakers - after all, you want to arrive at your destination looking your best. However, there's a reason why you shouldn't be wearing make-up on the plane, as "flying is terrible for your skin" according to expert @dthekorean.

In a TikTok video, he outlined why you should choose products like moisturiser on the plane, rather than loading up on foundation, concealer, bronzer and the rest. "Going on an airplane is literally one of the worst things you can do to your skin, so here are a few tips you can use so you can glow," he advised.

He warned you should "never wear make-up on a plane because it will dry out your skin and your skin will get oily to compensate for the dryness, and your make-up is gonna look all pasty".

The guru also revealed you will appear "dull and colourless" after a flight, because being "so high up prevents blood flow to your face", so doing "a couple of squats" will help to restore the blood flow throughout the body. He also highlighted you're "30,000 feet closer to the sun", so it's crucial to wear your SPF and close windows when possible.

In the comments, a former flight attendant concurred: "As a former flight attendant, I 100% agree with the sunscreen part! Since we must wear make-up, I have found ways to keep it intact."

Another individual commented: "Not me watching this while wearing make-up on a plane."

A third person questioned the wisdom of doing skincare on the plane, writing: "I've seen people do skincare on the plane but I wasn't sure if that's good because of the air. I read that it just traps the recycled air into your skin."
