Why not France? Diego Costa says he is happy at Chelsea despite talking up potential move to Ligue 1

Chelsea vs Tottenham: Diego Costa loves the big stage and knows exactly how to win this FA Cup semi-final

Diego Costa says he is "very happy" at Chelsea but has also suggested he could be tempted to join a Ligue 1 club in the future.

Costa has been in superb form for the Blues this season, with the Spaniard's 17 goals helping Antonio Conte's side climb to the top of the Premier League table.

The forward, who is no stranger to transfer speculation, came close to leaving Stamford Bridge last summer, but his attempts to return to Atletico Madrid ended in failure.

Costa was also the subject of interest from Chinese Super League clubs during the January transfer window before eventually opting to stay put in west London.

And although the 28-year-old is adamant he is currently content at Chelsea, a switch across the channel seems to appeal to the Spain international.

"It's true that Marseille has a great project and is growing up," Costa is quoted as saying by Telefoot.

"I'm very happy with Chelsea, but in football everything can happen, and if we have to change, France is a place where I've never played, so why not?

When quizzed further about the strength of PSG and Monaco, he said: "Everyone knows that [PSG] is a respected team in Europe. Monaco also has a great project and great players."
