'Wild' Lightning Flashes in Southern Arizona Night Sky

Lightning zapped through the sky in south-central Arizona in the early hours of Monday, September 12, as “numerous” lightning flashes were recorded in parts of the state, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.

This footage was captured by Twitter user @lizfilion, who said they recorded it from their home in Gilbert.

“Last night’s thunder and lightning were wild,” she said in the post.

Isolated severe storms, including flooding and lightning, were possible in the area throughout Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Credit: @lizfilion via Storyful
