Wilfried Gnonto set new Leeds United challenge as Manor Solomon loan deal moves closer
Daniel Farke has challenged Wilfried Gnonto to kick on following his outstanding performance in Leeds United's 2-0 triumph at Sheffield Wednesday
Leeds claimed the local bragging rights thanks to goals from Brenden Aaronson and Daniel James. It was Leeds' first victory of the new campaign after draws against Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion in recent weeks. They also fell to a 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup.
Gnoto was also positive during the match, particularly the second half, with his direct running and trickery causing Wednesday plenty of problems. Leeds boss Farke said: "We've worked a lot with Willy in recent months. We want him to be more flexible in his movements, so he covers different positions and isn't too static.

"We work a lot with him individually and show him different scenes. He was at times unplayable. He's still a young player and can be a bit smarter to handle some situations on the pitch. A step forward from him but one we expect from a player of his calibre."
Gnoto has been linked with a move away from Elland Road in recent months, with Everton and West Ham United rumoured to be interested in his services. The Italian international was the subject of a £23m bid from Everton earlier in the transfer window.
Leeds supporters will be hoping he can build on his Owls performance and produce better numbers this season than last. He registered eight goals and three assists in 39 Championship appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
Competition is set to increase on the flanks, with United closing in on the signing of Manor Solomon following the addition of Largie Ramazani from Almeria.
