Will Young’s Heartbreaking New Music Video Documents A Day In The Life Of A Transgender Person

Ever since the beginning of time Will Young has proven himself to be pretty ruddy outspoken as an artist and an individual.

We mean, need we remind you that he was the first person to put Simon Cowell in his place on Pop Idol all those years ago?

Well, it looks like Will isn’t done with speaking out about injustice just yet, with the singer unveiling his poignant music video for his brand new single ‘Brave Man’, with it documenting a day in the life of a female-to-male transgender person.

Bravo, Will, this is actually amazing.

Will has been a long-term champion of LGBTQ+ rights and has even campaigned as an advocate for charities such as Stonewall and PACE, and this is why he decided to take this opportunity to turn his vid into something much more powerful.

Discussing his decision to shed some light on the transgender community, Will explained: “It seems extremely brave to be a man in a woman’s body and then decide to do something about this.

“As I thought more about it I realised that there is often coverage of what it is to be a woman in a man’s body but never to my knowledge the documenting of the opposite. Almost a perverted kind of patriarchy.

“In this video we see a man determined to be himself in the face of all adversity from inside and outside. It isn’t brave but my god it shows true grit and strength. What a wonderful thing.

“This video isn’t about selling records or my personal benefit. This video is about taking a moment in time to explore a section of society who stand up for themselves. To tell a story and offer a window through music into someone’s life.

“I’ve never felt so humbled and proud.”

And who can blame him?

The song is the fourth single to be taken from Will’s sixth critically acclaimed studio album, 85% Proof, and was written with Will and collaborators Jim Eliot and Mima Stilwell.

Will’s ‘Love Revolution Tour’ is set to kick off later this month and will run across the UK and Ireland.
