A Willow sequel was just announced after 32 years. Not all fans are sure it's a good idea
The cult 1988 fantasy film Willow is being given a sequel series on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, it has been announced.
The series will see star Warwick Davis return as Willow Ufgood, while director Ron Howard is attached as an executive producer.
George Lucas, who produced the original film and devised its story, is not returning. Jon M Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) is set to direct.
The news was met with jubilation by many Willow fans, with plenty expressing their excitement on social media.
“I am 110% excited about this,” announced one fan.
“Actually really digging the idea,” said someone else. “Lots of potential there. Could be something great. And more Warwick Davis can never be a bad thing.”
“Not sure this reboot was necessary, especially without Lucas,” wrote another commenter, “but I'm willing to give it a chance.”

However, others were more skeptical about the prospect of a sequel, especially considering so many years had passed since the original.
“Disney...not EVERY single property needs a sequel,” wrote one Twitter user. “Why not make something new, instead of constantly ruining your past success?”
“I’m excited. But scared. But so excited. But really scared, please God don’t let them ruin it, Willow is f***ing perfect,” wrote another.
