Willow Smith has revealed how she felt when her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, opened up about her "entanglement" with singer August Alsina.

In July, Pinkett Smith revealed she had a relationship with Alsina during a time when she was separated from her husband Will Smith.

The Smiths shared their side of the story during an episode of Red Table Talk, during which Pinkett Smith said she entered “a different kind of entanglement” with Alsina but denied the singer’s claim that her husband gave “permission”.

On Monday’s episode of Red Table Talk, the couple’s 19-year-old daughter said she was “proud” of her mother for having that conversation.

“I want to put it on the table. I'm so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like: 'Okay that's the real deal,'” Willow said. "That's real love."

“Like, when you can be like: ‘I’m with you. I’m going to stand by you, and I’m gonna hold your hand because I love you’... that’s really important,” the Wait A Minute singer added.

During the episode, Pinkett Smith described the moment she acknowledged her relationship with Alsina as “a full blast of, like, flaws, and feeling and just the total breakdown of any mask.”

Reports of a relationship between Pinkett Smith and Alsina first arose in June, after Alsina claimed he “gave years of his life” to a romance with the Girl’s Trip actress during an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee.

After initially denying the reports, the 49-year-old admitted to the relationship during an episode of her Facebook Watch series on 10 July.

At the time, Pinkett Smith said she and her husband have now reached a place of “unconditional love”.
