Willum Willumsson and Lee Buchanan injury updates as Birmingham City head to Leyton Orient
Chris Davies expects Birmingham City’s Willum Willumsson to be fit to face Leyton Orient on Saturday (3pm).
Iceland international Willumsson suffered a head injury in the closing stages of last weekend’s win over Wycombe Wanderers. Willumsson had to be substituted in stoppage time after colliding with goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
The 25-year-old stepped off the bench to score Blues’ decisive third goal at Adams Park and is in contention to start against Orient. “He’s OK,” Davies said at his pre-Orient press conference. “He’s going through the protocols that he needs to medically.
“Each day it’s better. He has been doing what he needs to do and I would expect him to be available for the game at the weekend.”

Blues will be without left-back Lee Buchanan once again due to a calf injury. Buchanan hasn’t played since the pre-season defeat to Aldershot Town on July 27 and is still a month away from returning to action.
Davies said: "His return to training date is mid September, which then means he needs to get at least a couple of weeks under his belt, so we are looking towards the end of September for him to be available all being well.
“From what I hear and see, he is progressing on track. It’s a niggly injury in the calf but he is progressing on track and I’m really looking forward to getting him back.
“I felt like he had a couple of niggles in pre-season, I didn’t get the chance to have a really good look at him so I’m looking forward to him being fit.”
