Who will win Celtic vs Rangers? Our writers make their predictions for Scottish Cup Final showdown

It's 22 years since Celtic and Rangers went head to head in the Scottish Cup final and that was an epic encounter - will this one be worth the wait and live up to the drama of 2002?

If it is then the Light Blues will have to produce a performance to match their rivals which is something they haven't managed for some time. The circumstances going into the game are fairly similar to when they last clashed in the season showpiece at Hampden.

Back then, Martin O'Neill's Hoops were the dominant force but Alex McLeish arrived mid-season and landed the two knockout trophies. Philippe Clement, having already lifted the League Cup, could do exactly that if his side can triumph on Saturday. Big Eck's men edged a five-goal thriller with a last-gasp Peter Lovenkrands goal. Can Gers repeat that to end Brendan Rodgers' side's fine end to the season? It's prediction time and our writers have made their picks for the big one at Ibrox.

Given the track record of Brendan Rodgers in this fixture coupled with his side’s end of season hot streak it’s impossible to see anything other than another Celtic win. If they score early it could become a punishing day for their rivals.

Celtic are in good form and have the better players. Provided they produce their best levels at Hampden, they should win. Despite the narrow final scoreline, they bossed the last encounter.

Celtic 2 Rangers 0

I just think Celtic have the edge over this Rangers team. Celtic will be on a high after their title win and it should be the perfect send off for the soon-to-be-departing Joe Hart. Rangers are just defensively too vulnerable and you can see Kyogo Furuhasi coming to the fore again and making the difference.

Celtic 3 Rangers 1

Celtic have proven their championship credentials by peaking at the business end of the season while Rangers have stumbled towards the finish line with their injury woes mounting. Philippe Clement has made clear this Ibrox squad is coming to the end of its cycle but it’s unlikely to end in a happy ending.

Celtic 2 Rangers 1

Celtic are the better side but none of the derbies have been comfortable this season and it will be no different at Hampden.

Rangers need to find something different if they are to trouble the Hoops but with the personnel available it’s difficult to see them having enough threat to topple the champions who have hit top gear.

Celtic 2 Rangers 1

Logic suggests Celtic are the red-hot favourites. They have dealt with Rangers all season and, perhaps, their most dominant display against their eternal rivals is still to come. Rodgers’ combined record in the fixture and at Hampden is compelling, however, it is their extra match winners rather than history that will land them the double.

Celtic 3 Rangers 1

It's been a subdued build up in the blue half of Glasgow and there's a good reason for that - the fans have lost all faith in their side when it comes to this particular fixture. The fact they are just over 3/1 with the bookies tells its own story. Their derby record is wretched and it will take a huge performance and major shock for Philippe Clement to claim his second piece of silverware of the season.
