Wickes is giving 10 lucky readers £200 worth of vouchers to spend in store.

And to mark the launch of Wickes Solar, the home improvement retailer has teamed up with TV property guru Phil Spencer to reveal how you can reduce energy bills in the short term, as well as longer-term investments that can add value to your home and even earn you money back, subject to eligibility.

But that's not all!

With energy bills hitting record highs the home improvement retailer has joined forces with TV property expert Phil Spencer to share how you can cut your energy bills in the short term, as well as make longer-term investments that could increase the value of your home and even earn you money back, subject to eligibility.

Phil shares his top five tips for saving on energy, including immediate, low-budget energy-saving suggestions

Turn up the heat

Doors and windows are often the biggest culprits for draughts. Invest in draught excluders for as little as £6 to help keep the heat in and enhance the efficiency of your central heating.

Another option is to add more insulation. Insulation rolls that are 200mm thick or more, or those that are 100mm thick can be used alongside existing insulation to improve its effectiveness.

Power down

A simple way to save is by swapping your regular bulbs for LEDs. Just replacing six halogen spotlights with LED equivalents could save you £23 a year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 24 kg annually.

Stay afloat

The rising cost of water is also a concern for many Brits. A water-saving shower head can cut water usage by up to 50% without sacrificing performance.

Phil's 'plan for the future' tips:.

Go solar

Solar panels are a worthwhile investment if you can afford it. They not only reduce your bills and carbon footprint, but when combined with other energy-saving solutions, they can also boost your home's EPC rating.

For homeowners considering this move, Wickes has introduced Wickes Solar, powered by Solar Fast, a top installer of solar panels. Solar Fast boasts an 'Excellent' rating on TrustPilot and offers their solar panels with a 25-year guarantee.

Stick with it and the rewards will come

Solar panels could last for up to 30 years. If you have an agreement with the government's Smart Export Guarantee scheme, you could even get paid for any surplus electricity you feed back into the grid.
