Wind Storm Leaves One Dead in Spokane

High winds toppled trees and knocked out power in Spokane, and elsewhere in Washington state, on January 13, reports said, leaving one person dead.

This footage, by Washington State Trooper Jeff Sevigney, shows a tree falling outside Washington State Patrol headquarters on Rowand Road. It was one of four that was downed by strong winds at that location, Sevigney said.

According to The Spokesman-Review, a woman was killed after a tree fell on her car near Comstock Park.

The outlet reported that fallen trees and downed power lines forced some residents to evacuate their homes and prompted some businesses to close.
