Appealing visualizer: The WinDirStat visualizer uses a series of colored rectangles to demonstrate how storage is used and how files within the storage are related.
Practical usages: If you're wondering what files you shouldn't back up as part of an automated backup in order to speed up the process, just look for the largest files or file groups. If some of those don't change on a regular basis, you can exclude them from regular backups and reduce the time and resources required for those backups.
Cons
Lack of support: The software itself does not offer a great deal of help or direction. The developer's website is similarly unenlightening.
Needs restrictions: WinDirStat allows you to delete files and folders from within the app without a lot of checks and balances. Before you start deleting files or folders, make sure you know what they are and why they are important.
