Posting about the free event, the organisers wrote: "A wonderful wander in the heart of the west end. From Gibson Street to Great Western Road, University to Woodlands, we’re inviting all our neighbours to join in to make this a real spectacle."
Taking place from Saturday, December 7 until Thursday, December 12, taking part and attending the event are both free, with people able to put designs up in the windows of their flat, house, business, school, nursery, or shops. The organisers even added that people can stick them up in their cars or camper vans should the motion take them. They added that it doesn’t even have to windows; you can also use your front door, the front of your house, your front garden.
Organiser Catherine Hardy said: "I thought an event like this would work well here as we are similar to communities in the southside and there have been some wonderful events there.
"It's such a lovely opportunity for the locals to bring their kids out and walk around the streets that they perhaps don't often get to frequent, and see the incredible diversity of people's imaginations in their windows. It's lovely, it's such a positive neighbourhood event that lights up what is a dark time of the year."
Artist Marianne Vosloo is offering workshops for people looking to try out the event on Wednesday, November 27, and Wednesday, December 4 in The Left Bank where they can bring some craft materials and get inspired for their designs for their windows.
In previous years, similar walking trail in areas in the southside have seen incredible performances in front rooms, amazing projections onto buildings, dance parties, giant human jukeboxes, intricate installations, and music filling the streets.
