Winter Solstice Storm Brings Rain, Snow to Seattle Area

Snow was seen in parts of Washington on the evening of Monday, December 21, after heavy rain fell earlier in the day.

Sally Mizroch said this video, posted on Monday night, shows “big gloopy snowflakes” falling near Matthews Beach, a neighborhood in Seattle.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the snow was the result of a cold batch of air behind a weather front that dumped heavy rain on the Puget Sound region. The NWS said the storm also brought gusty wind and flooding to parts of the region on Monday. Credit: Sally Mizroch via Storyful
