The winter walk through high street full of independent shops ending with one of London's top roasts
Despite the cold weather, winter is one of the best times for a walk. When temperatures drop, the crisp air accompanies a walk perfectly.
If you love enjoy walking through the city to find London's hidden gems, then this cosy winter walk through a park and then onto a high street full of independent shops, ending with one of the best roasts in London could be your ideal Sunday.
This walk starts in North London, in Archway. Here, it's best to warm yourself up in prep, so why not get a coffee from one of the many great places around here? Nathalie's Kitchen has 4.9 stars on Google and is praised for its 'charming service' and 'great coffee'.

If you head north and walk up Highgate Hill, you will pass a number of cool independent shops that have a variety of things on sale to suit almost everyone's taste. The hill is long and has a bit of an incline, so prepare to feel a slight burn in the calves.
You come across the luxurious Waterlow Park a few minutes up the hill. It is dwarfed by its local neighbour, Hampstead Heath, but it makes up for that a lot in character. It has lovely flower beds and an orchard and attracts a host of wildlife.
Through the park, you can reach Highgate Cemetery, where the Tomb of Karl Marx is. The tomb commemorates the burial sites of Marx, his wife, Jenny von Westphalen, and other members of his family. A large bronze bust of the revolutionary socialist sits on top and is a popular landmark in the area.
Around the Cemetery and back around Waterlow Park, you go onto Highgate Hill again and eventually reach another high street. On Highgate High Street, not only do you have fantastic views of London, but you will find one of the best roasts in the capital.
The gastropub The Red Lion & Sun was named one of the best in London and the Country by The Good Food Guide. They say that the 'prime cuts of 35-day, dry-aged Aberdeen Angus beef' are the star of the show on these roasts, which come with roast potatoes, broccoli, toot vegetable mash, Yorkshire puddings, and a red wine jus and are priced at £27.
It's a winter walk with lots to see and a full belly at the end.
