'Wintry Mix' Hits Northwest Kansas Ahead of Forecasted Winter Storm
A “wintry mix” descended on Goodland, a city in northwest Kansas, on the evening of Sunday, January 15, ahead of a forecasted winter storm that is expected to bring “heavy wet snow” to the region, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
Footage posted to the NWS Goodland Twitter page shows snow falling on parked cars outside the agency’s Goodland office.
The NWS said lingering moisture from light precipitation had turned into ice and warned of slick spots on area roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
A winter storm with the possibility of producing snow accumulations greater than six inches and dangerous travel conditions is expected to impact the area on Tuesday, January 17, according to the NWS. Credit: NWS Goodland via Storyful
