Witnesses rushed to help a driver whose SUV got stuck on the back of a bus it rammed into on July 28 in Wichita, Kansas, after the driver of the SUV experienced “a medical complication,” according to local media.
Footage of the incident was captured by local resident Rene Steven Brand after she suspected the occupant of the SUV was attempting to flee the scene of a hit-and-run.
In the footage, witnesses can be seen rushing to the aid of the SUV driver as the vehicle’s wheels spun and it was pulled along by the bus.
Speaking to Storyful, Brand gave credit to the stranger responsible for rescuing the driver from the SUV.
She said, "I couldn’t believe he kept trying — but so thankful he did.
“He was a complete stranger but he was a hero to everyone that could have been in the path of this vehicle that could have broke loose at any time,” she added.
“It could have caused so much damage — he saved lives for sure.”
