The Witton Arms, a beloved Aston Villa supporters’ pub, has proudly announced the unveiling of a new mural paying tribute to the late Gary Shaw.

Shaw, who sadly passed away last month, played a pivotal role in Villa’s European Cup victory in 1982 and is regarded as one of the best forwards in the club's 150-year history. The mural, created by artist 'Disney', will be revealed on Wednesday, October 2 at 4pm ahead of Villa's Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich.

The artwork, prominently displayed on the pub’s exterior wall, captures Shaw in his glory days and celebrates the pivotal goals he scored during his time at the club.

Linda Fitzgerald, landlady of the Witton Arms, said: "Gary Shaw is a true Villa legend, and his memory lives on in the hearts of all Villa fans. This mural is a way for us to celebrate his legacy and remember the joy he brought to the club, especially during that famous European Cup-winning campaign. We wanted to unveil it ahead of such an important match to remind fans of what we’ve achieved as a club and what we’re capable of."

Fans are encouraged to visit the Witton Arms to join in with the tribute, enjoy the pre-match atmosphere and celebrate Shaw's memory. The pub is expecting a large turnout for the mural unveiling and pre-match festivities.

Fans can look forward to sharing stories, raising a glass in honour of Shaw and preparing for what promises to be an exciting Champions League night. The pub is also welcoming fans for screenings of away matches this season.

Fitzgerald added: "As much as we advise fans to get to the Witton early for the home games, the away games are also going to be a big party for all of us, it really will be the best place to watch for those fans who aren’t lucky enough to be following the team across Europe. We will have every game live on the big screen as well as throughout the pub and we promise an absolute party feel."
