A fly-tipper admitted he dumped rubbish outside a Midland fishery to 'make his yard more tidy'. Christian Cosatache, 28, pleaded guilty to fly-tipping rubble at Wergs Fishery in Codsall, Staffordshire, on February 26.

He appeared at court on October 1 and admitted the charge via a Romanian interpreter. Cosatache said he was clearing his yard to leave it in a better condition for him and his family.

He was caught in the act by a witness who called police. Officers attended and the defendant was interviewed by South Staffordshire District Council officers.

Cosatache, of Carter Road in Wolverhampton, was ordered to pay a total of £2,482 after the court imposed a fine, costs and a victim surcharge. A photograph from the scene showed a large pile of rubble dumped outside a metal fence in a rural area.

South Staffordshire councillor Rita Heseltine said: "There is no excuse for fly tipping rubbish of any kind – it is irresponsible and illegal. Fly tipping costs us as a council and private landowners thousands of pounds every year and this is not fair or acceptable.

"This court result shows we will not tolerate people committing waste crime in South Staffordshire."
