Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone insists they have to "keep doing what we're doing" and not "get sidetracked" with the table and the wins will come.

Johnstone joined the club from Crystal Palace in the transfer window and has replaced Jose Sa in goal but is yet to taste his first three points at Molineux this season.

Reflecting on their current predicament, he said: “We've got a great team, a great bunch of players, and we've had some very difficult games.

"We can't get sidetracked with that, we have to keep doing what we're doing, what we want to do, and hopefully the wins start coming. We've had a tough start, and we have to keep looking forward, keep working.

“We can’t get sidetracked with the table and the results that have gone, there's a long way until the end of the season, and hopefully that starts changing soon, for ourselves, for the club and for the fans. We have to keep going in the right direction and being positive."

Analysing the defeat to local rivals Aston Villa last weekend, he said: “It's tough. It was probably a game of two halves a little bit.

"We've done so well going a goal up, so to lose it towards the end is obviously tough for us as a team and staff. It's always going to be difficult, as you've seen with Villa over the last few weeks, scoring late goals coming from behind. We knew it was going to get tough and we couldn’t keep in the game.

“We knew it was never going to be easy, you’re in the Premier League. We're playing against Villa at Villa Park, and we said at half-time it was going to be tough.

"But no matter how much brace yourself for it, once it starts, the waves start coming, and they score a goal that turns things, and we struggled a little bit then."
