Manchester United have been boosted by the confirmed return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford as they prepare to meet Wolves this afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were riding high after starting the Premier League season with a thumping 5-1 win over Leeds United on the opening weekend of the campaign.

However, they then slipped up at St Mary’s as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton and they will be keen to avoid losing any more early ground in the title race.

And key to those title hopes could be the sensational return of Old Trafford legend Ronaldo, who is rejoining his former club from Juventus - though he will not be signed properly in time to line up for them on Sunday.

Wolves, meanwhile, are yet to pick up the first point of the Bruno Lage era after a tough start against Leicester and Tottenham, but did at least collect the first win of the new manager’s reign by beating Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Wolves vs Man United prediction

Wolves’ tough start does not get any easier but they have at least proven themselves a relatively tough nut to crack in only losing to Leicester and Spurs by the odd goal.

However, United will surely be desperate to right the wrongs of last weekend and may have too much firepower, particulalrly if Sancho is thrown in from the off.
