Woman who was in abusive relationship has begun competing in MMA bouts

A woman who moved to the US to escape an abusive relationship has begun competing in MMA bouts to reclaim her confidence. Kheira Saadi, 32, was born and raised in France but fled in 2012 to escape her former partner. Now she feels strong, independent and is ready to tackle whatever life throws at her. "It's so empowering to know that I can't get beaten up by anyone again," said Kheira, a nursing student and aspiring MMA fighter from Sacramento, California. "I'm no longer scared or traumatized. "Now I know even if someone looks sketchy, I can take them down and knock them out." Filmed on 5th July 2021
