Woman Admits Killing Gay Tryst Lawyer In Hotel

A woman who posed as a man to lure a newlywed lawyer into a bogus gay tryst at a boutique hotel, before stabbing him to death, has admitted his murder.

Jamyra Gallmon knifed David Messerschmitt repeatedly in the abdomen, groin and heart during a robbery in Washington DC on 9 February.

The 21-year-old, who was arrested last month, pleaded guilty in DC Superior Court Thursday to second-degree murder while armed.

Messerschmitt, 30, an intellectual-property lawyer, had placed an ad on Craigslist soliciting a gay sexual encounter.

Plotting to rob him, Gallmon responded to him using the masculine-sounding name "chrissanchez0906".

While waiting in Room 400 of the Donovan Hotel, Messerschmitt texted his wife to say he would return to their Capitol Hill home in an hour.

Gallmon told police she stabbed Messerschmitt because he grabbed her arm, causing a flashback to a time when she had been assaulted.

She stole $40 from him, as well as his metro transport card.

His body was found in the hotel room the next day.

Gallmon's roommate, 19-year-old Dominique Johnson, also pleaded guilty on Thursday, to conspiracy to commit robbery.

Neither woman had any previous criminal record.

After the murder, according to a police affidavit, Gallmon met Johnson outside the hotel and they walked hand in hand to a bus stop.

On the bus home, the killer broke her silence to tell her accomplice: "It went bad."

Gallmon faces between 18 and 25 years in prison.

Johnson, whose mother is a retired DC police officer, faces five years in prison.

Messerschmitt’s widow, Kim Vuong, wept in court on Thursday.

She said after his death: "I have lost everything: my husband and my best friend."
