Woman airlifted to hospital after three vehicle crash closed Gwynedd road

A woman was airlifted to hospital after a three vehicle crash shut a Gwynedd road. The collision happened on the A499 between between Trefor and Llanaelhaearn, on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services were at the scene, including an air ambulance, which flew the woman to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, which has a specialist trauma unit.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 4pm on Monday July 8th to report a collision on the A499 involving three vehicles. The road was closed whilst emergency services attended which subsequently resulted in a woman being taken to Stoke hospital. The road was reopened shortly before 7pm."

A Wales Air Ambulance spokesperson confirmed they were called to the incident. "Our Caernarfon-based crew were allocated at 16:13 and attended by air. They arrived at the scene at 16:28. Our involvement concluded at 17:46", the spokesperson said.
